Not just for the classroom, home-schooler, or science project , It is really quite fascinating to try and reconstruct and identify the skeleton of the prey. Because owls don't have teeth the large pieces pass into the owl's gizzard, where they are processed into smaller pieces. Small, sharp bones would damage an owl's digestive system if they passed through it, so the gizzard holds the bones.
