The Village Toy Shop
" I just wanted to say I love your toy store and I love your staff.  I came cross three of your staff during my last visit and each one of them was fabulously helpful.  I’ll definitely keep visiting this wonderful little toy store (I’m sure my son will agree).

Thanks a bundle,"

The History

In 1990 Kirsten Anderson found her passion when her mother Victoria Anderson invited her to leave her career in the movie business and special event management to work in the family business – The Granville Island Toy Company. For 10 years this dynamic duo had the time of their lives traveling to toy shows, choosing only the best toys and playing to their hearts content. It was a natural fit for the two of them. Victoria had received her ECE degree and opened her own pre-school while raising her two daughters in the 80’s. Kirsten and her sister grew up around toys that were open ended and encouraged creativity. Kirsten’s sister Aidan now does most of the book buying using her keen eye for exceptional illustrations and well told stories.

In the fall of 2001 Kirsten’s dream finally came true! She started her own toy store. After much searching all around the Vancouver Lower Mainland a friend alerted her to a relatively new development that was modeled on Whistler’s style, but in the booming community of Port Moody. When she laid eyes on the quaint Village she knew she had found her new ‘home’.

Despite the challenge of starting a new business, the store was a raging success right from the start. Within a month of opening, The Village Toy Shop was receiving national media attention on television. The buzz has continued ever since within the community and afar.
